Why it matters

Several states have federal approval to use Medicaid for nutrition support, according to KFF. A peer-reviewed study of 9 produce-prescription programs at 22 sites, with 3,881 participants, found people ate about one more serving of fruits and vegetables a day and had lower blood pressure, body weight and blood sugar, and less food insecurity. We ask Arkansas lawmakers and the governor to have the state Medicaid program cover produce prescriptions.
